Sunrise Radio retains AMA Radio Station of the Year Award

Sunrise Radio were named Radio Station of the Year at this year’s Asian Media Awards.

The Asian Media Awards, sponsored by the University of Salford honours journalists, broadcasters, presenters, bloggers and marketing professionals and took place at the Hilton Manchester Deansgate (Wednesday 25 October).

MD Tony Lit said, “It is great to be honoured and receive this award from your peers, people within the industry who know the trials and tribulations of working in the media industry. It’s a tough business and only the toughest and those who chase their dreams survive.

“It’s fantastic to be recognised and to win this for the second year running.

“Thank you also to the listeners. Without the listeners we’re nothing.”

Now in its 28th year, Sunrise Radio was the first commercial radio station in the UK.

It very soon became one of the UK’s leading Asian radio stations serving the Asian community with its brand of entertainment programmes, talk shows and music setting the Asian culture in a Western context. Sunrise Radio also runs a radio training academy providing free training for any budding radio presenters and journalists.

Sunrise Radio began their nationwide broadcast last year.
