Sky Sports Presenter Bela Shah to Host the Asian Media Awards 2021

Sky Sports News presenter Bela Shah will host the ninth Asian Media Awards ceremony.

The 2021 Asian Media Awards will take place at the Emirates Old Trafford in Manchester on Friday 29 October.

Bela has been a presenter at Sky Sports News since 2018.  Since joining, she has presented a number of special shows including Good Morning Euros from Wembley Stadium, Deadline Day, The Football Show, Tackling Racism and she is the lead presenter for Goals on Sunday.

She works with the EFL on a number of events, most recently hosting the Carabao Cup final and the EFL Play Off matches at Wembley. Bela was also on the judging panel for the EFL Awards 2020/21.

Bela said “It is an absolute honour to host the Asian Media Awards 2021. I am delighted to be part of an event which recognises the talent of my peers in the media industry. After a tough time for everyone, I am excited to be able to celebrate the event together in the beautiful and diverse city of Manchester.”

A spokesperson for the Asian Media Awards said: “Bela Shah is one of the UK’s leading broadcasters and presenters and we are delighted she will be joining us as we host our first live ceremony in two years. We look forward to welcoming Bela and the 2021 finalists to the Emirates Old Trafford in Manchester.”

Bela previously worked as a presenter for Channel 5, BBC Radio 1 Newsbeat, BBC Asian Network, talkSPORT, Heart FM and Sunrise Radio and TV. Bela is also a qualified solicitor and worked as a lawyer for ITV Sport before pursuing a career in broadcast journalism.

In her spare time, Bela is a mentor on the Journalism Diversity Fund and when she’s not watching sport, Bela will most likely be playing golf!

The Asian Media Awards return on Friday October 29 at the Emirates Old Trafford in Manchester.

Previous recipients of an Asian Media Award include Krishnan Guru-Murthy, Waris Hussein, Art Malik, Mehdi Hasan, Nina Wadia, Anita Rani, Shobna Gulati & Faisal Islam.
