Pritti Mistry was named Regional Journalist of the Year at the 10th Asian Media Awards.
The 2022 awards celebrated the achievements of journalists, broadcasters and leading creative industry professionals in Manchester.
The ceremony hosted by Sky Sports News presenter Bela Shah also saw special awards for LBC News host Lisa Aziz, BBC 5Live broadcaster Nihal Arthanayake and acclaimed TV and stage actor Kulvinder Ghir.
The awards honoured journalism, online, radio, TV, creative media, stage, theatre and live events in 23 categories and was back at the Hilton Manchester Deansgate where the first awards took place in 2013.
The University of Salford are the Premier Partners for the awards which aim to shine a light on the accomplishments of media professionals from across the UK.
The award presented by Editor at German channel DW news and AMA panel member, Akanksha Saxena.
BBC Yorkshire and Lincolnshire journalist Pritti Mistry said: “I’m thrilled to receive this award, it’s a great recognition of all the work done over the last year or so. It’s also fantastic to be celebrating the achievements of all the immensely talented individuals who are present here at the awards ceremony.

Pritti has been responsible for breaking some of the biggest news stories of the past year for the BBC News website and regional TV in Yorkshire and Lincolnshire.
This has included the story of double murderer Gary Allen, an unknown criminal who escaped justice for murdering a woman in 1997. Her research took her to sex workers’ forums where she empathically reached out to those who came across the killer.
Her in-depth piece reached audiences of more than1.2 million and was a BBC exclusive. She covered the murder of toddler Star Hobson from prosecution to trial/sentencing and secured exclusives on warnings by friends and family members to Bradford social services.
Additionally, she reported on an inspirational story about a Sikh boy and his sister encouraging kids to read via his TikTok and YouTube.
She has also covered a South Indian migrant couple who lost everything including passports and visas in a flat fire, and exclusives on a Ukrainian refugee boy stranded in Holland for more than two months due to visa delays.
The 2022 Asian Media Awards winners of all categories and special awards were revealed at the Hilton Manchester Deansgate on Friday October 28.
Previous recipients of an Asian Media Award include Krishnan Guru-Murthy, Waris Hussein, Art Malik, Mehdi Hasan, Nina Wadia, Anita Rani, Shobna Gulati, Faisal Islam & Adil Ray.
