A travel blogger won the Best Blog/Website honour at the Asian Media Awards.
Journalists and broadcasters joined actors and presenters at the 12th ceremony, which celebrates achievements in a range of categories in TV, radio, stage, online and creative media.
The ceremony is supported by the University of Salford and took place at the Hilton Manchester Deansgate on Friday October 25.
Curios Pixie, run by Sima Sthanakiya started off as a part-time travel blog in 2016 and has evolved into something so much more.
The award was presented by event partners ClearTwo.
Speaking on stage Sima said: “Oh my god I was absolutely not expecting to win this award.
“I was in a category with some established websites.
“The Curious Pixie was a passion project which started eight years ago. Never did I think that when I started it that it would lead me to leave my 18 year career at the BBC or even start my own travel business.
“From that I have built a business where I am working with tourism boards, amazing travel brands and travelled the world even with my family.
“I must thank my online community. Without them I would be stood here today.”
With exclusive tips and advice, it aims to celebrate underrated destinations and hidden gems to help travellers get off the beaten track and journey beyond the familiar tourist trails.
It now boasts a huge following with 685,000 followers across social media platforms and has amassed nearly 6 million likes and 15 million views just this year on TikTok. Viral videos have also propelled the content across multiple media platforms.
