Sunrise Radio’s Paul Shah celebrated nearly 25 years in the radio industry by winning his first individual Asian Media Award.
Journalists and broadcasters joined actors and presenters at the 12th ceremony, which celebrates achievements in a range of categories in TV, radio, stage, online and creative media.
The ceremony is supported by the University of Salford and took place at the Hilton Manchester Deansgate on Friday October 25.
Paul Shah is the charismatic host of the popular Breakfast Show on Sunrise Radio, where he wakes up the nation with his infectious energy and vibrant personality.
He was presented the award by social media star and author, Shabaz Ali of Shabaz Says fame.
Speaking on stage Paul stage: “In December 2000 I applied for a job at Sunrise Radio as an engineer, fixing tables and chairs- fixing light bulbs.
“I worked my way up to doing overnights, then weekends and then drive time.
“Then I became the programme manager at Sunrise Radio – the UK’s biggest commercial radio station and now the Breakfast Show host.
“This can happen if you work hard and just get on with it.”
He added: “I want to thank my children and partner.
“I want to thank the whole team at Sunrise Radio.”
