National And Regional Radio Stations Honoured At Asian Media Awards

The BBC Asian Network again leads the nominations at this year’s Asian Media Awards.

In the Best Radio Show category both Bobby Friction and Tommy Sandhu are nominated. They join Breakfast show presenter Andy Gill from Sunrise Radio 963/972and couple Sunny and Shay whose weekly show on BBC London has proved to be popular.

Nihal, who hosts the morning BBC Asian Network Talkshow and was winner of two awards in 2013 is again featured in the Radio Presenter of the Year category.

Noreen Khan who presents the afternoon Drivetime show on BBC Asian Network is also nominated again for the second year running.

As is Neev of Kiss FM who remains the Asian presenter with the highest listenership on a commercial radio station in the UK.

Anita Anand presents ‘Any Answers?’ on Radio 4 and makes up the 2014 Radio Presenter of the Year list.

The Radio Station of the Year features Sunrise Radio 963/972 which celebrates its 25th year of broadcasting to London’s Asian community.

Asian Star FM 106 fm who won our Regional Radio Station of the Year in 2013 is listed in two categories this year.

2013 winners the BBC Asian Network, which recorded record listening figures in the past year make up this category.

Community radio station Glasgow’s Awaz Fm is featured in the Regional Radio Station of the Year category.

The station joins Leicester based Sabras Radio which celebrates its 20th anniversary this year and is one of the most listened to channels in the region.

Sunrise Yorkshire is again shortlisted. The station became the first to develop an app for its listeners and presently it has reached over 35,000 downloads.

The finalists for the 2014 Asian Media Awards were announced at ITV, The London Studios.

The event sponsored by Asons Solicitors and the University of Salford was attended by invited finalists, partners and special guests.
