Excellence in journalism is highlighted in the Publication of the Year finalists

In 2015 the Asian Media Awards Publication of the Year includes five newspapers who are serving communities across the country.

Asian Express is a Leeds based weekly newspaper which includes local, national and international news along with business, film, entertainment and sport. In recent years the newspaper has helped to highlight a range of taboo issues and investigations have focused on highlighting the positive contributions of British Asians.

Gujarat Samachar is one of the longest running publications serving the Asian community in the UK. With numerous special issues throughout the year it looks to cover everything from community news, finance and investment advice to the latest Bollywood gossip.

The Asian Today is a midland’s based newspaper providing a voice for the Asian community in the region. Whilst continuing to focus on local issues the publication also includes a range of international subject matter to encourage dialogue as well as provoking debate and discussion.

Eastern Eye features a range of special investigations and features alongside its weekly coverage of the latest politics, business, the arts, Bollywood and sports. The publication group also hosts the annual Asian Business Awards, GG2 Leadership Awards and publishes the Asian Rich List. Eastern Eye was named Publication and Newspaper of the Year in both 2013 and 2014.

The Muslim News is a monthly and digital newspaper providing news and views of Muslims in the UK. Established in 1989 the newspaper offers a platform for Muslims ‘to lobby and campaign’ on a range of issues. In the past decade, editor Ahmed Versi has established himself as a respected commentator on matters affecting the Muslim community.

The Asian Media  Awards  take place  on Thursday October  29 at the Hilton  Manchester Deansgate.
