The Asian Media Awards hosted a special networking evening for partners and supporters at the Hilton Manchester Deansgate.
The event, which was held to coincide with the hotel’s tenth anniversary celebrations, featured speeches from ITV, the BBC and the Manchester Evening News.
Work produced by students from the University of Salford was aired to the guests which included some of the university’s postgraduates and undergraduates.
As the event continues to support the local economy there was a special recognition of the North West based businesses who help to put on a high profile event of this nature.
Former AMA finalist Harpreet Kaur shared her experience on how the event had helped to change her life.
As well as aiming to inspire the next generation of media professionals, this year the theme was the need to tackle issues surrounding diversity in the media.
Speakers at the networking event included, Phil McPeake Director of Operations at Hilton Manchester Deansgate; Jodie Williams, Sustainability Co-ordinator, ITV; Raj Somaiya, Payal; Paul Broster, University of Salford, Director of Journalism; Mohammad Yasin Ali-Khan, Supreme Dream Events; Harpreet Kaur, AMA 2014 Outstanding Young Journalist Award finalist and now at BBC Asian Network; Shelina Begum, Business Editor, Manchester Evening News and Aziz Rashid, Head of BBC North West.
Nominations for the 2016 Asian Media Awards open on the 25th April.
This year the AMA ceremony takes place on Thursday 27 October at the Hilton Manchester Deansgate with the Official Shortlist Announcement being held at ITV, the London Studios on Monday 19 September.
