Blue Mist wins 2024 Best Stage Production award

The Royal Court Theatre’s ‘Blue Mist’ was named Best Stage Production at the Asian Media Awards.

Journalists and broadcasters joined actors and presenters at the 12th ceremony, which celebrates achievements in a range of categories in TV, radio, stage, online and creative media.

The ceremony is supported by the University of Salford and took place at the Hilton Manchester Deansgate on Friday October 25.

The award was presented his award by Panel members Talat Farooq-Awan and Nazma Noor

Three young men meet in a shisha lounge and delve into everything from politics and religion to British identity and heritage in this thoughtful and relevant production. Chunkyz Shisha Lounge is home away from home for Jihad, Rashid and Asif, a space where community whispers are heard, jokes are told and new hustles are born.

But its future is under threat, having become a target for local politicians.  Aspiring journalist, Jihad wants to fight back.

After winning a competition to produce his own documentary, he sets out to create something that gives a voice to his community and challenges the usual stereotypes that fill the airwaves.

He wants create something that makes his boys proud but his dreams could be under threat as the narrative is being dictated.
