Leading media professionals from across the country gathered at Manchester’s MediaCityUK for the launch of the Asian Media Awards.
The launch gave guests a chance to meet members of the judging panel as well as have a look at the categories for the first time.
The awards aim to reward the efforts of members of the Asian Media in helping to galvanise their communities and forging ahead with what sometimes are limited resources.
They also look to highlight the ground breaking work of reporters and producers in highlighting issues affecting race relations and human rights.
Umbreen Ali, Media Manager who hosted the event said, “We are delighted that so many of the UK’s leading industry professionals joined us to launch this innovative awards event.
“It was pleasing to see so many people here.”
Categories for the awards are dedicated to rewarding online, print, radio, TV and marketing.
There are also four special awards for social and charitable campaigns of the year, Outstanding services to British Television, Media Personality of the Year and Lifetime Achievement.
The Asian Media Awards will take place on Thursday 31 October at the Hilton Deansgate. Before then a finalists launch will be held in London in September.
