Anthony Nolan Campaign Honoured At Asian Media Awards

The Anthony Nolan charity’s ‘Reach the Six’ campaign was the recipient of the Best Social and Charitable Campaign 2013 at the Asian Media Awards.

The Best Social and Charitable Campaign, in association with award charity partner Lendwithcare.org, is one of four individual special awards which aims to recognise specific organisations and individuals.

The event will showcase the very best talent working in the Asian media industry and those working in the mainstream media.

The ‘Reach the Six’ campaign 2013 focussed on the 6% of the UK population who are Asian, urging on them to join the bone marrow register.

Asian people are underrepresented on the Anthony Nolan bone marrow register, but for an Asian person with blood cancer, a bone marrow transplant from an Asian donor could be their only chance of survival.

To target the 3,000 who can make a lifesaving difference, Anthony Nolan aimed to hold 60 recruitment events in the South Asian community.

Umbreen Ali from the Asian Media Awards said, “The ‘Reach the six’ Campaign aimed to highlight a growing need for Asian donors to step forward and join the Bone Marrow register.

“To date the campaign has helped to encourage over 2000 people to register. We think this is a fantastic achievement by a charity which continues to create more awareness of an important cause.

“We are delighted to be able to recognise the charity at the first Asian Media Awards.”
