Broadcaster Aaron Paul was named Rising Star In Radio winner. The Rising Star In Radio category was supported by MediaCom.
Aaron Paul begun his journey in hospital radio before working his way up to BBC Radio 5 Live.
The seventh University of Salford Asian Media Awards ceremony (October 24) at the Hilton Manchester Deansgate was attended by journalists, bloggers and media professionals from across the UK. The 2019 event was hosted by Dani Sinha of Channel 5 news.
The award was presented by Associate Director at MediaCom, Krishna Haveliwala.
Accepting the award Aaron joked, “I’m just a brown boy that likes football to put it simply.
“Thank you to my old man and my mum. Thanks mum for waking me up in the morning!
“Thank you Sohail and Naz. Both are two of the best football reporters out there.
“Thank you for BBC Radio 5 Live for making my dream come true. And thank you to Paul Shah from Sunrise.”
Aaron has combined his love for football by embarking on his career with the BBC at BBC Radio London, reporting on AFC Wimbledon and subsequently becoming the station’s primary reporter on Fulham Football Club.
Having spent two and a half years honing his craft at BBC London, Aaron was headhunted to host the London Football Fans show, the flagship show on London’s newest sports radio station Love Sport Radio
Aaron went on to join BBC Radio 5 Live and BBC Final Score during the 2018/19 season, the UK’s biggest football platform on radio and television.
Aaron has been quick to establish himself within the 5 Live ranks and has quickly worked himself to becoming an essential part of the 5 Live Sport team.
This year’s Asian Media Awards took place the Hilton Manchester Deansgate on Thursday October 24 2019.
The University of Salford were premier sponsors and partners to the event included ITV, MediaCom, M.E.N, & Press Association Training.
