Star Plus was named TV Channel of the Year at the 2016 Asian Media Awards.
The AMA’s recognise excellence in the media with categories in journalism, online, radio, television and marketing. The awards are sponsored by the University of Salford and took place the Hilton Manchester Deansgate.
The award was presented by actress Armeena Rana Khan.

Star Plus is the most watched Asian entertainment channel in the UK with a weekly viewership of over 1 million.
Star Plus’s programming includes a mix of family dramas, celebrity chat shows, international format shows, music and dance reality shows amongst others.
Popular shows include Yeh Hai Mohabattein, Saathiya,Mahabharata, Masterchef India and Koffee with Karan, making it officially the UK’s most watched Asian TV channel, all subtitled in English.
Star Plus has also sponsored events across the UK such as Leicester Mela, Birmingham Mela, Arijit Singh, Sonu Nigam, Rahat Fateh Ali Khan, A R Rahman and Satinder Sartaaj to name a few.
The TV Channel of the Year category was sponsored by AMT Lawyers.
The University of Salford are premier sponsors to the 2016 events and partners include ITV, MediaCom, Press Association Training and the Manchester Evening News.
